EM Madness Co-Chair

Dr. Tirado is the Emergency Medicine Program Director at HCA Hospital Oak Hill and originated from Puerto Rico. He finished his Medical School and Emergency Medicine Residency Program in the University of Puerto Rico, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Tirado, served as Associate Professor for the College of Medicine of the University of Central Florida, where he helped develop and implement an Ultrasound curriculum for Medical Students for all four years of education. In 2018, he was offered the opportunity, to once again help start a New EM Residency program, with HCA Healthcare sponsored by USF Morsani College of Medicine, and he currently serves as Program Director for this program. Dr. Tirado is also an active member at AIUM, AAEM, SAEM and ACEP, where he has served in different Committees at the Ultrasound Section such as the EUS reporting guidelines and former Committee Chair and Course Director for the Emergency Ultrasound Management Course (EUMC).

Dr. Lugo serves as the Associate Program Director at the HCA Hospital Oak Hill Emergency Medicine Residency. She has an impressive background and a wide range of experience in the field of emergency medicine. Here's a summary of her professional journey and accomplishments. Dr. Lugo attended the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and later New York Medical College, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree in 2003. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico Emergency Medicine Residency Program in 2006, where she also served as the chief resident. Dr. Lugo joined AdventHealth Emergency Medicine Residency Program this program in 2008, initially as clinical faculty. Over the years, she took on various roles, including patient safety director, clerkship director, and faculty champion for the AH Wellness Curriculum initiative. She transitioned to HCA/USF Morsani COM: GME Oak Hill Hospital in January 2021, initially serving as clerkship director and later becoming the Associate Program Director. She is an accomplished speaker at various national and international medical conferences, including WACEM, EMRA, ACOEP, SAEM, and ACEP state meetings. When she is not working, she loves spending time play tennis, golf, paddle boarding, volleyball, go to the beach, go hiking with my friends and dog, travel, white water rafting, snowmobiling, cooking for friends and family, attend sports events, concerts and Broadway shows.

EM Madness Co-Chair

Dr. Molins is a native Floridian, born and raised in Miami, Florida. She went to college at Florida International University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2003. She was accepted into medical school in Puerto Rico, Universidad Central del Caribe and obtained her medical degree in 2007. She decided she loved emergency medicine and completed her Residency at the University of Puerto Rico, Emergency Medicine Residency Program, graduating in 2010. Dr Molins completed a master’s in medical education from Lake Erie College of Medicine in May of 2019. After completing her residency in 2010, she joined Florida Emergency Physicians, and moved to Orlando Florida. She has worked at AdventHealth Emergency Department since. She began working with AdventHealth Emergency Medicine Residency in 2010, where she was the Curriculum Director and the Assistant Program Director. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. She has a passion for medical education, medical education research, pediatric emergency medicine, delivering excellent patient care and serving others through local clinics in the Orlando area and internationally. She also volunteers locally with her Bichon Frisse, Lila, as a therapy dog team with “Be An Angel Dog Ministry” in the greater Orlando area. She is an enthusiastic tennis fan, as a local player and enjoys being a spectator at the Miami Open and US Open Championships.

Dr. Carmen Martinez Martinez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She earned her Bachelor in Science in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico. In addition, Dr. Martinez completed courses toward a Masters in Epidemiology but it cut short since she was accepted into medical school, her ultimate goal. She was accepted at Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine where she excelled and became a physician in 2007. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico, in Carolina, Puerto Rico in 2010. She had a great interest in the pediatric population which led her to seek a fellowship after residency. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine from the University of Florida Health Science Center-Jacksonville. Upon completion in 2012, she moved to Orlando Florida and joined Florida Emergency Physicians. In addition to her clinical work, she is core faculty for the Florida Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency. She is currently the Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Associate Research Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. She has completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship Program and is a participant of the 2019 MERC at CORD Scholars Program. In 2019, she completed a master’s in Medical Education from Lake Erie College of Medicine. Her interests are pediatric emergency medicine, research, medical education and curriculum innovation. She is a clinical assistant professor for Florida State University and a volunteer faculty member for the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. She actively participates in the Florida College of Emergency Physicians in planning and lecturing at Symposium by the Sea and Advanced Practice Provider Skills Camp.

Procedure Lab Chair

Dr. Little serves as the Associate Program Director. He is a 2012 graduate of Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a 2016 graduate from the Doctors Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency in Columbus, Ohio where he served as a chief resident. After graduating he served as both the research and curriculum director at Doctors Hospital prior to coming to AdventHealth. He has research interests and experience in the areas of Airway Management, Vascular Access, Podcasting, and Educational Delivery Models. Outside of his clinical and administrative roles, he is a Co-Host for the EM Over Easy Podcast, and a regular contributor to Hippo Educations UC:RAP. He also serves as an editor for the Academic Life in EM blog, and is on the Editorial Board for EP Monthly. He is a national speaker for ACOEP, CORD, EMRA, many state ACEP meetings, and the Medutopia team.

Research Chair

Mary McLean is an Associate Residency Director and Residency Research Director for the AdventHealth East Orlando Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency and Internal Medicine for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She originally hails from Portland, Oregon, completed her medical education at Oregon Health & Science University, and completed her EM training at St. John’s Riverside Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program where she subsequently served as an APD. Her professional interests include medical education, educational research, scholarly activity, public speaking, leadership and advocacy, bias, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has spoken nationally and internationally on the medical management of cardiac, neurologic, OB/GYN, neurologic, and traumatic emergencies, as well as on medical education, DEI, and career development topics. Outside of work, she enjoys documentaries, animals, travel, and being a foodie.

Dr. Gue was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, where he received his medical degree from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in 2015. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at AdventHealth East Orlando where he led as Chief Resident, was named Resident of the Year (in 2018), and served as President of the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association of Florida.

Dr. Gue currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Florida College of Emergency Physicians where he serves as co-chair of the Membership and Professional Development Committee. He chairs the planning committee of Symposium by the Sea, FCEP’s annual meeting and conference, as well as participating in Emergency Medicine Days, the premier advocacy event for Emergency Medicine in Florida. He is also actively involved in national committees within ACEP and SAEM.

He completed a Master’s in Medical Education from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and further educational training through the American College of Emergency Physicians Teaching Fellowship. He is the recipient of the AdventHealth GME Faculty of the Year Award for 2020 and the ACEP Microteaching Award for 2021.His educational interests are focused on developing novel approaches to graduate medical education in the form of Team-Based learning curriculum and gamification. Additionally, he enjoys educating our future leaders on the non-clinical aspects of medicine such as wellness/resiliency, advocacy, administration, and organized medicine as a whole.

Dr. Latha Ganti is Professor & Director of Research for the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Professor of Emergency Medicine and Neurology at the UCF College of Medicine. She is board-certified in Emergency Medicine, and fellowship-trained in Vascular Neurology.

Dr. Ganti is the recipient of the American Academy of Neurology AB Baker Teaching Award, and the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors (CORD) and Clerkship Directors in Emergency Medicine (CDEM) Distinguished Educator Awards. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Neurology’s Women’s Leaders in Neurology Program.

Dr. Ganti’s early work on the deleterious impact of hypotension on acute ischemic stroke led to a paradigm shift in how we think about blood pressure in AIS, seeing it as a U-shaped curve rather than the previously taught J-shaped one. Her research has been adopted into position papers and clinical policies by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Neurology. She has also contributed to the science behind heart rate variability and outcomes after AIS. More recently she has been involved in the optimization of acute care in intracerebral hemorrhage. She is a member of the EQUAL task force for stroke, and national Co-chair for emergency medicine quality at Envision Healthcare.

Dr. Ganti has published extensively in the field of neurologic emergencies including acute stroke and brain injury, with high impact. Her Google Scholar citations reveal an i10H-index of 99, with more than 6500 citations to her work just in the last few years and over 320 pubmed indexed papers.

Dr. Ganti has been a member of SAEM since she was a medical student, and always wanted SAEM regional to be in her town!

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Jung graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1999 and completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2002. She has been a Hopkins faculty member since that time, and is currently an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine. Her primary career focus is medical education, with a particular interest in high-acuity and critical care content, as well as simulation-based education and assessment. She was the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine for 16 years, and earned a Master’s degree in Education for the Health Professions in 2017. She is currently the Director of Innovation in Medical Education for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, in which capacity she is responsible for updating teaching and assessment methods in the medical student curriculum, as well as expanding the Hopkins footprint in the online education arena. Dr. Jung is a recognized leader in medical education, a former president of Clerkship Directors in EM, and a current member of the Board of Directors for the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. She leads several educational and assessment programs at Hopkins, and has received numerous teaching awards and honors.
